3D Mammography

3D mammography (breast tomosynthesis) is the newest technology in breast cancer screening, and The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging is proud to be one of the first centers in North Carolina to offer this revolutionary screening and diagnostic tool.

3D mammography works in conjunction with conventional 2D mammography. During the 3D part of the exam, the X-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple breast images in a matter of seconds. These images are then used to produce a three-dimensional view of your breast tissue in one-millimeter slices. This allows radiologists greater visibility to see detail in breast tissue in a way never before possible, helping find the cancers that may have been previously missed and reducing the chance your doctor will call you back unnecessarily.
